Zach
Zach's new words today were "Yah Baby!" Kids pick up the darndest things, don't they On Saturday Troy cleaned out the toy basket downstairs taking out a lot of toys, but leaving some cars. Zach discovered the "new" cars in the basket and loaded them up in a little tote-able basket of his own. So he went from 4 cars last week to about 12 this week. (Essentially as many as will fit in the basket.) He had a tantrum for the first couple minutes of church today when Troy would only let him take in a couple cars instead of the whole tote full of them. Aah two year olds
Katie, Emma, Claire
Not much to report from Kate, Emma, Claire. Summer Vacation got much hotter this week. It was between 105 and 110 for the highs. So the only thing that was bearable to do outside was play outside in the sprinklers which they did quite a bit. Their favorite water sport is to slide down the wet slide onto a slip-n-slide set up at the bottom.
Troy and Rachel
On Monday Troy's boss asked him if he was willing to take over managerial responsibilities for a portion of the team. Umberto (he's Italian-American) has had too many people to manage already and now there are a couple new people joining, so his manager duties are becoming unwieldy. Troy will have a final discussion with Umberto early next week to decide what to do.
Rachel's birthday was on Thursday. She received a good number of phone calls and cards with birthday wishes. Rachel and Troy went out to Golden Corral buffet and the latest Indiana Jones movie (both her choice).
One of her best gifts, however, was treating herself to a girl's night (overnight) out with some friends on Friday and into Saturday. Rachel can't get much rest at home with everyone asking Mommy to do things all the time, so it is good for her to get out once in a while. They stayed at a nice, yet inexpensive hotel in Scottsdale and went to a free "Showstoppers Live" show at a casino on a nearby Indian Reservation. On Saturday Rachel and her friends found a mall and had fun trying on clothes and shopping.
Troy and the kids mowed the lawn and cleaned the house while Rachel was out.
Rachel also prepared a lesson and taught Relief Society this week - as pay-back for a favor she owed the R.S. first counselor. Her lesson went well with good participation once she woke the class up from their mid-morning stupor. Troy and the Elders Quorum didn't have a teacher this week, so they were all going to join her in the R.S. room. Troy even OK'ed it with the R.S. president. But when the bishopric got wind of the plan, they vetoed combining with the sisters, and the Elders combined with the High Priests instead. It didn't matter much to Troy, however, as he had to be in the Nursery with Zach.
